While we love visiting with friends old and new at the various Open Streets festivals around the city, the East Lake Street version always feels like a homecoming. As part of our celebration of the beautiful community that runs along East Lake Street from the river to the highway, we’ve invited Longfellow neighborhood artist extraordinaire JAO to perform her band of wildly expressive speed painting. JAO will be doing large format speed painting performances from the back of her art truck every 45 minutes beginning at 11:30am until 5pm directly next to our tent.
As JAO is painting up a storm, baristas from our Wonderland Park location will be serving up our popular summer signature drink, the Black Lemonade Bruleé, ( a 16 oz glass for $4 while supplies last). This grown-up lemonade is sweetened with a burnt sugar and cold press syrup with a hit of fresh lemon and sparkling water for a delicious summer treat. It’s like a caffeinated ray of sunshine.
As we push through the continuing construction on Minnehaha Ave, we look to this event as a gathering of businesses that are “in it together”. We’re hoping you remember that Minnehaha Ave is open for business during these tenuous months. So walk, blade, bike or board your way from 42nd to Elliot Ave. And be sure to visit us for some refreshing liquid sunshine and captivating art.
