If you have been following along in the infamous year 2017, you have heard our messages about the importance of trees and our rooted conviction to a more sustainable planet. With the release of Tree Hugger Blend this past spring, we planted a flagship coffee that we hope will bloom and grow into something that bears good fruit in this world. We want that fruit to be a more focused pursuit of climate resilience for our farmer partners, a more informed and engaged customer base, and a product that is a force of good in coffee growing countries around the globe.
proud tree huggers
Trees have a special place in a coffee lover’s heart; naturally an understory plant, organic coffee thrives under a canopy of shade trees that help regenerate the soil, feed families, and generally make our planet a better place.
We’re proud to call ourselves tree huggers. Twenty years and counting of organic, bike delivered coffee, and we can’t hide our crunchy credentials. Inspired by the trees we love, we stand strong in our commitment to sustainability.
sip coffee, save trees!
Continuing with that theme we are celebrating National Coffee Day a little differently this year. As part of Sprudge.com’s national fundraising event ‘Night of 1,000 Pours‘, 50¢ from every purchase at our coffee shops on Friday, September 29th will be donated to the Arbor Day Foundation to support their work advocating for healthy forests and communities with tree education and planting! Folks can double down on their donation by purchasing a bag of Tree Hugger Blend and we will contribute another 50¢.
carbon, climate, coffee initiative
If you feel so inclined, we implore you to check out Arbor Day Foundation, or other local non-profits in your area that are focused on combating climate change by investing in education, empowerment, and action. We are committed to working with our importing family at Cooperative Coffees on the vast issues related to small-scale coffee farmers including contributing 3¢ per pound to the Carbon, Climate and Coffee Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to allow our partner cooperatives to assess their community’s needs and apply for funding to complete new research and projects that will ensure the future of growing organic coffee is bright.
