6.3.22: It’s official. Peace Coffee workers voted to unionize.

“We look forward to meeting with the union’s negotiating committee and to getting the process underway. This is new ground so we’ll learn as we go and we’ll do our very best to make sure that we continue to act in ways consistent with and supportive of our culture, our shared values, and our shared future.”

-Lee Wallace, Peace Coffee Owner & CEO

4.13.22: In Motion

Part of the reason that I love Peace Coffee is that every piece of our company is always in motion. From the slow ripening of coffee cherries on branches a world away to the spinning of roasting drums and the packing of orders at our roastery in Minneapolis, motion is all around us.

And for 25 years, we’ve done our absolute best to honor our mission to support small-scale coffee farmers by paying fair prices for their coffee and by buying 100% organic certified beans along the way. We always strive to carry that mission out by listening and meeting our staff where they are at here at home as well.

There is a new type of motion at Peace Coffee, fueled by a group of our workers that have genuine care and concern for their own wellness and that of the company as well. This group of staff members is exploring the question of whether a union makes sense for them. Others are just learning of this possibility and want to know what it might mean for them and their families.

We very much support each worker’s rights and will respect whatever choice they make. As we go through this process we will do so consistent with our values, our culture, and our mission. We will listen to each other & be kind, caring, & empathetic.

In Motion,

Lee Wallace
Peace Coffee Owner & CEO

This process is ongoing and we will post updates here on the blog and across all of our social media channels as appropriate.
