Hold Each Other Up, Listen, & Adapt
As you may have heard, the City of Minneapolis is now declared to be in a state of emergency and all restaurants, coffee shops, and bars must close or limit access to delivery, take-out and drive-through only, by noon on Tuesday, March 17. I made the difficult decision to close all of our coffee shops at the end of business on March 16th. The shops will remain closed indefinitely, as we do not know a timeline based on the current situation.Â
To continue our support of social distancing efforts, we are also asking all employees that are able to work remotely do so starting Tuesday, March 17. We will no longer offer local order pick ups as our office inside the Greenway Building in Minneapolis will be closed to the public. Our customer service team will continue to manage calls and orders remotely so that our wholesale and online customers, including local deliveries and shipped packages, will not be impacted.
Our goal at the moment is to continue operations where feasible and safe to help ensure the health of our staff and community. Producing coffee is the best way we can continue to provide as many jobs as possible in these uncertain times. Day to day, we will be as proactive and communicative as possible, making adjustments as needed for the health and safety of us all.
I appreciate our team’s, and the community at-large’s, effort to stay aware, limit exposure, support each other, and check-in with others about their feelings during these uncertain times. We do not enter into this uncharted territory lightly and will be vigilant in monitoring this ever-evolving situation to make sure we do what’s best for our family and yours.
In times like this, it can seem like what we do at Peace Coffee is insignificant in the greater scheme of things, but I am also proud that we’ve always been on the side of our community of farmers, staff, and customers. No matter what the future holds, we look forward to continuing to support this community that supports us.
If you do need to restock your supply of coffee, please consider placing your order online or picking up a bag at a local grocery store as you are able, in keeping with the social distancing guidelines set forth by the CDC.
