Director of Marketing
How did you find your way to Peace Coffee?
Doing research in college about the international banana trade someone referred me to the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy. At the time Peace Coffee was housed in the basement of their building. I had a short meeting with the directors and instantly knew my business and Spanish language skills combined with my passion for coffee, social justice and living an active lifestyle could be put to use. Thankfully they agreed and I've been here ever since.
What's your favorite fact about coffee?
It always astounds me that the average yield from one tree is the equivalent of one roasted pound of coffee, a 1 to 1 ratio!
What's your dream job if you weren't working at Peace Coffee?
Modern art museum curator, professional soccer player or an astronaut.
Tell us something no one knows about your job.
There's never a dull moment.
What's your favorite pairing with coffee?
Sweet potato pie with whipped cream on top, paired with a mug of Morning Glory Blend brewed in a Chemex.
If you could have coffee with anyone, living or dead, who'd it be?
Both of my grandmas, Eleanor & Birdie.
Where are you to be found when not at Peace Coffee?
Admiring the Mississippi River, watching movies at St. Anthony Main theater, organizing moderately scientific taste tests of everything from donuts, to baguettes, to sardines, to IPA's.
What's your favorite fashion faux pas to commit?
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Ever since Peace Coffee sent me to Sumatra in 2003 to visit coffee farmers at the PPKGO co-op in Takengon, I've wanted to return and explore more of the islands of Indonesia. Fingers crossed I'll get to travel there again!
If someone made you into a cartoon character, what would that character's most prominent feature be?
What music keeps you going while at work?
An all-female lineup that depending on my mood switches from Janelle Monáe to Cat Power to Adele but usually settles on Brandi Carlile, and if no one is in the office, it's the Dixie Chicks.
