What's your favorite fact about coffee?
I love how ritualistic coffee is. Something that most people drink in a stupor still waking up in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up that breaks the monotony of staring at a computer screen. I've made countless friends over cups of coffee and the comfort that comes with a warm (or cold) beverage seems to be universal around the world.
What's your dream job?
Since I was a little kid I've wanted to own a restaurant. A small place that can serve amazing food and be a gathering place for people to explore new dishes.
What's your favorite pairing with coffee?
Pan Dulce! I spent a summer living in Honduras and the afternoon snack was always a small piece of sweet bread that was usually somewhat stale but turned into the most delicious sweet-savory bite when dipped in hot coffee.
If you could have coffee with anyone, living or dead, who'd it be?
I know this might seem boring, but I have to say my mom and grandma. I don't get to see them enough and if we're all drinking coffee together it means that we're out and about having a good time.
Where are you to be found when not at Peace Coffee?
Playing with my cats or walking around Uptown or Lake Calhoun.
What's your favorite fashion faux pas to commit?
I recently discovered how amazingly comfortable Crocs are, but I really only will wear them with colorful socks.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Central America, I'd love to visit Mexico, El Salvador, Cuba, and revisit Honduras. Maybe it's the coffee talk lately, but I'm definitely itching to return to Honduras. I'd also love to learn more about traditional food from each of these countries.
If someone made you into a cartoon or comic character, what would that character's most prominent feature be?
I decided to ask a friend what they thought for this, and his response was "probably your very large forehead." Apparently I have a big forehead?!
What is the best bike ride you’ve ever taken & why?
I grew up in a very bike friendly town, we biked everywhere all the time. I remember being really excited when I was finally old enough to bike to summer camp all on my own. The sense of freedom being able to ride and think to myself was wonderful, I still love getting to bike or walk around even if it's short just getting to be on my own.
What music keeps you going while at work?
I love dancing around to 80s hits at work! Anything that gets people singing along or dancing is an all-around win in my book.
