What's your favorite fact about coffee?
Coffee has always been the beverage that facilitates the exchange of ideas. The Inverse Square Law of Gravity was formed in coffee shops and so was the stock exchange. It's where business men got their news, sailors got weather reports, and actors and play writes sold plays. Johann Sebastian Bach even wrote a "Coffee Cantata" as a jab at people of the time who thought coffee was dangerous to one's health and mental well-being.
What's your dream job?
There are lots of cool jobs out there, I don't think I could ever commit to doing just one thing for the rest of my life but I'd like to try some of these:
-Board game reviewer
-Field Representative for Coffee or Tea
or maybe opening up my own bed and breakfast and serving great coffee, of course. I just love to learn, travel, grow, communicate, and experience new things.
What's your favorite pairing with coffee?
More coffee : ) I am definitly a two cup kind of guy and the best thing to wash down my morning coffee is another cup of coffee. I am really into side by side pairings so I would probably do a Chemex of our Sumatran Full City and then follow up with a French Press of our Sumatran Italian just to exemplify the difference a little roasting can do.
If you could have coffee with anyone, living or dead, who'd it be?
Will Wheaton, otherwise known as "Wesley Crusher" from Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also created the web series Table Top and is an avid home brewer. I think it would be fun to have a cup of coffee with him and play Arkham Horror.
Where are you to be found when not at Peace Coffee?
Playing board games with my family. I love Cribbage, Backgammon, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Catan, Pandemic, Elder Sign, and any other cool Eurogames!
What's your favorite fashion faux pas to commit?
I am a thrift shopper and can't pass up a good suit coat. I also love wearing a fedora.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Jerez in southern Spain. I went there for my honeymoon and can't wait to go back. It is a small city not far from Cadiz and it is the world capital for Sherry wine. It is also the birth place of Flamenco. I can picture myself walking the cobblestone streets in the evening and sipping great wine in one of the oldest cities in Spain.
If someone made you into a cartoon or comic character, what would that character's most prominent feature be?
Probably my teeth. I have a crooked lateral incisor that is pretty prominent when I smile. I also have a wicked scar on my right cheek that I got when a bottle of carbonated soda exploded in my face a while back, but I don't mind I think it adds character.
What music keeps you going while at work?
Pink Floyd definitely. I love all their albums but my favs are Obscured by Clouds, Meddle, a Momentary Lapse of Reason, and Division Bell.
