A Win at the Roasters Guild Retreat

The roaster's challenge is a much-anticipated part of every Roasters Guild Retreat. This year each team was required to create a roasted blend, brew profile and write a description of the coffee to describe the sensory characteristics as you would on a label for a customer. It's no surprise Derek's team, Earth, Wind & Trier, took home top honors. Racing against the clock to craft the best blend of beans from around the world was no easy task.
Their award winning blend combined 50% Guatemalan Huehuetenango (50/50 of 2 different roasts), 40% Mexican (50/50 of 2 different roasts) and 10% Ethiopian Natural Process.The final cup had a very balanced body and acidity with some caramel tones and a touch of bright fruit. Overall a sweet and delicious coffee. Congrats to Derek and his teammates!
